  • “Woke Culture” in Indian Society and Its Social Reactions

    Abstract

    “Woke culture” has become an influential social phenomenon across the world originating in the West and gradually making its way into Indian society. The concept of being “woke” refers to heightened awareness of social justice issues including caste and gender discrimination LGBTQ+ rights environmental concerns and political activism. While some view this as a progressive movement fostering inclusivity and equality others perceive it as a radical ideology that disrupts traditional values and cultural norms. This research paper explores the emergence of woke culture in India its influence on different social groups and the reactions it has triggered across political cultural and religious domains. By analyzing media representation generational differences and ideological conflicts this study assesses whether woke culture is a force for positive change or a divisive tool in Indian society.
