  • A Philosophy of Hindutva Developed by Savarkar

    Abstract

    Savarkars Hindutva is a socio-political ideology that emphasizes the cultural unity of India identifying Hindutva as the essence of Indian identity. According to Savarkar being a Hindu is not just about religious beliefs but about sharing a common cultural heritage geographical origins and historical experiences. He argues that India (referred to as Bharat) is a sacred land (Punyabhumi) for Hindus encompassing all those who consider it their fatherland (Pitribhumi) and holy land regardless of their personal religious practices. Savarkars notion of Hindutva extends beyond religious Hinduism to include all people who recognize India as their homeland and inherit its cultural legacy. This includes a broad spectrum of cultural practices languages and traditions that have historically developed in the Indian subcontinent. In this view Indian Muslims and Christians if they acknowledge this cultural unity could also be considered part of Hindutva although this point has been controversial and
