  • AN ANALYTICAL STUDY OF ANUKULCHANDRA CHAKRAVARTY AND HIS SPIRITUAL VISION

    Abstract

    Anukulchandra Chakravarty, popularly known as Sri Sri Thakur, descended from his mother’s womb in a respected Brahmin • family in the village Himaitpur on 14“ September, 1888. The remote village is situated on the bank of river Padma in the district of Patna in East Bengal (now in Bangladesh). His father, Sri Shivachandra Chakravarty, was a philanthropist and his mother, Monmohini Devi, was a kind-hearted pious woman. When Monmohini Devi was pregnant, a hermit came to the village Himaitpur. He directly proceeded to Shivachandra’s house and took lunch there. He forecasted that the ‘Yugmanav (Incarnation of God) would descend from the mother’s womb and another mother of the house • would lose her child. After some days, Yogendra Narayan, the only younger brother of Monmohini Devi, suddenly suffered from fever and passed away. After completion of eleventh months of pregnancy, the baby Anukulchandra was born.
