Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic significantly transformed family life across India influencing household arrangements caregiving responsibilities economic stability and intergenerational relationships. The unprecedented health crisis compelled families to adapt to changing social and economic conditions resulting in both challenges and opportunities for family cohesion. In many households the return migration of workers increased dependence on family support systems and prolonged periods of co-residence altered traditional family structures. Simultaneously rapid digitalization reshaped communication patterns between generations. While some families experienced strengthened emotional bonds and collective resilience others encountered conflicts arising from economic stress caregiving burdens and differences in values and lifestyles. This study explores the evolving nature of family structures and intergenerational relationships in post-pandemic India. It examines the social cultural and economic f
