Abstract
Colonial rule in India spanning nearly two centuries left an indelible mark on the countrys social economic political and cultural fabric. The British colonial administration introduced significant changes that reshaped Indian society both positively and negatively. This paper explores the impact of colonial rule on Indian society analyzing its effects on governance economy education caste system gender roles and cultural identity. While some institutions and reforms introduced by the British had long-term benefits many colonial policies led to social disruptions and economic exploitation.
