  • Corporate Governance and Business Ethics in Emerging Economies

    Abstract

    Corporate governance and business ethics have become increasingly significant in emerging economies where rapid growth institutional development and globalization intersect. Strong governance frameworks and ethical practices are essential to building investor trust ensuring transparency and promoting sustainable growth. This paper explores the evolution challenges and opportunities of corporate governance and business ethics in emerging economies with a particular focus on India. It reviews global standards including the OECD principles and analyzes their applicability to developing contexts. Case studies of Indian corporations highlight successes and failures in governance illustrating the consequences of ethical lapses and the benefits of responsible practices. The findings suggest that while emerging economies have made significant strides in strengthening corporate governance challenges such as weak enforcement corruption and short-termism remain.
