  • Cybercrime and Law Enforcement: Evaluating the Effectiveness of India’s Cyber Law Framework

    Abstract

    Cybercrime poses an escalating threat in India requiring robust legal and enforcement frameworks. This paper evaluates the effectiveness of the Information Technology Act 2000 and subsequent amendments in addressing cybercrimes such as hacking identity theft and financial fraud. It examines challenges faced by law enforcement agencies including inadequate resources lack of training and jurisdictional issues. By analyzing case studies the study highlights gaps in the existing legal framework and the need for comprehensive legislation. Recommendations include enhancing inter-agency collaboration adopting international best practices and increasing public awareness. The paper emphasizes the importance of a proactive approach to combating cybercrime and ensuring digital security.
