  • Disaster Management Policies and Community Resilience in India (2018–2025)

    Abstract

    India due to its diverse geography and vast population remains highly vulnerable to natural and human-induced disasters. Between 2018 and 2025 the country witnessed multiple calamities including cyclones in coastal regions devastating floods recurring droughts earthquakes forest fires and the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. These crises underscored the importance of strong disaster management policies and the role of community resilience in mitigating risks and ensuring recovery. During this period India strengthened its institutional frameworks under the Disaster Management Act (2005) integrated technology-driven early warning systems and implemented policies aligned with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. Community participation became increasingly recognized as central to disaster preparedness and recovery.
