  • Economic Growth and Its Impact on Indias Degradation of the Environment

    Abstract

    Economic growth in India has been marked by significant advancements in industrialization urbanization and infrastructure development leading to improvements in living standards and economic stability. However this growth has come at a considerable environmental cost. The rapid expansion of industrial activities and increased consumption have exacerbated issues such as air and water pollution deforestation and loss of biodiversity. This paper examines the relationship between economic growth and environmental degradation in India highlighting the trade-offs between economic development and ecological sustainability. It explores the effects of industrial policies urban expansion and resource extraction on the environment and discusses potential strategies for achieving sustainable growth. The study underscores the need for integrated policies that balance economic objectives with environmental protection to ensure long-term prosperity and ecological health.
