Abstract
India’s economic growth over the last few decades has been remarkable transforming the country into one of the fastest-growing major economies in the world. Rapid industrialization urbanization and expansion of agriculture and infrastructure have significantly improved living standards and reduced poverty levels. However these developmental strides have also imposed severe environmental costs including deforestation air and water pollution soil degradation loss of biodiversity and increased greenhouse gas emissions. The interplay between economic growth and environmental degradation is complex often reflecting a trade-off between short-term economic gains and long-term ecological sustainability. This research paper examines how India’s pursuit of economic growth has affected its environmental integrity. Using a mixed-methods approach the study integrates quantitative analysis of economic and environmental indicators with qualitative evaluation of policy frameworks industrial practices
