Abstract
The rapid emergence of generative artificial intelligence is transforming the ways in which university students search for interpret and validate knowledge. Traditionally Indian students relied upon parents elders teachers peers libraries and institutional experts when seeking explanations and guidance. The growing availability of artificial intelligence systems has introduced a new form of knowledge intermediary that can provide immediate answers explanations and personalized assistance. This paper examines the sociological transformation from interpersonal knowledge-seeking toward AI-mediated knowledge-seeking among Indian university students. Using a qualitative secondary-data approach the study synthesizes scholarship on knowledge authority digital transformation artificial intelligence literacy and student learning practices.
