  • Gender Discrimination in Urban vs. Rural India: A Comparative Analysis

    Abstract

    Gender discrimination remains a pervasive issue in both urban and rural sectors of India but the nature causes and impacts of this discrimination vary significantly between the two contexts. This study aims to examine and compare gender discrimination in urban and rural areas of India focusing on the economic social and cultural factors contributing to this disparity. Through a comparative analysis this paper explores how gender biases are manifested in educational access employment opportunities healthcare and decision-making processes across both regions. The findings reveal that while rural areas exhibit more overt gender inequalities rooted in traditional cultural norms urban areas experience more subtle forms of discrimination influenced by deeply entrenched patriarchal structures. The paper further discusses the policy interventions aimed at mitigating these gender disparities and offers recommendations for targeted strategies that can address the specific needs of both urban and
