  • Gender Inequality in the Workplace: A Study of Wage Gaps and Career Progression

    Abstract

    Gender inequality persists in the workplace characterised by substantial differences in remuneration and career progression chances between men and women. This research investigates the enduring gender pay gap and the obstacles women have in advancing their careers across many sectors. The study employs quantitative analysis of pay data and qualitative interviews with professionals to identify critical variables contributing to these inequities including discriminatory behaviours gender prejudice and the under-representation of women in leadership positions. The research also emphasises the influence of familial obligations and cultural norms on womens professional paths. Although legislative initiatives and business practices designed to advance gender equality have progressed the results indicate that these actions alone are inadequate to bridge the gap.
