Abstract
The rapid expansion of digital media has fundamentally transformed the social environment in which contemporary youth grow interact and construct their identities. Over the past two decades digital platforms such as social networking sites instant messaging applications online video-sharing services and interactive gaming environments have become deeply embedded in the everyday lives of young people. Youth today are not merely passive consumers of digital media but active participants who continuously create modify and circulate content thereby shaping new forms of social behavior.
