  • Nationalism and Indian Identity: Bal Gangadhar Tilaks Legacy

    Abstract

    This paper explores the profound impact of Bal Gangadhar Tilak on Indian nationalism and identity. Tilak a prominent leader in the Indian independence movement played a pivotal role in shaping modern Indian nationalism through his ideological contributions and political activities. His emphasis on cultural revival advocacy for self-rule and mobilization of the masses against colonial rule fostered a sense of national unity and identity. This study examines Tilaks key contributions including his promotion of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival as a tool for political mobilization his writings in the Kesari newspaper and his role in the Indian National Congress. By analyzing Tilak’s legacy this paper highlights his influence on the evolution of Indian political thought and his enduring impact on the Indian identity and nationalist movements.
