  • Political Communication in the Digital Age (2018–2025)

    Abstract

    Political communication in the digital age has emerged as one of the most transformative developments in India’s democratic landscape between 2018 and 2025. The rapid expansion of digital platforms widespread smartphone penetration and the growing influence of social media have reshaped how political actors interact with citizens disseminate information and mobilize support. Political campaigns once dominated by rallies print and television have increasingly shifted to WhatsApp groups Twitter hashtags Facebook lives and YouTube videos. The COVID-19 pandemic further accelerated this transition with virtual rallies and digital outreach becoming central strategies. However the rise of digital political communication also brought challenges such as misinformation echo chambers trolling and the weaponization of social media algorithms.
