  • Political Culture and Democratic Values: A Case Study of India

    Abstract

    The endurance of India’s democracy amid vast diversity has long fascinated scholars of politics and culture. As the world’s largest democracy India’s political stability depends not only on constitutional design but also on the deep-rooted political culture that informs citizens’ behavior values and expectations. This paper explores the relationship between political culture and democratic values in India analyzing how historical traditions social hierarchies and institutional practices have shaped democratic consolidation since 1947. Through a case study approach it examines the evolution of civic participation political socialization and public trust in governance. The study argues that India’s democratic resilience lies in its plural political culture which blends traditional norms with modern constitutionalism.
