    Abstract

    Prafulla Chandra Ray (1861–1944) was a pioneering figure in the field of chemical education in India known for his groundbreaking work in both chemistry and science education. His career was marked by significant contributions that helped shape the landscape of chemical sciences in the country. Ray was instrumental in establishing the first Indian-owned chemical laboratory the Bengal Chemical and Pharmaceutical Works which played a crucial role in promoting indigenous chemical research and industry. In addition to his scientific achievements Ray was a dedicated educator who advocated for the advancement of scientific knowledge and education in India.
