Abstract

Raja Ram Mohan Roy often hailed as the Father of Modern India played a pivotal role in shaping the intellectual and cultural landscape of 19th-century India. His legacy is marked by his relentless pursuit of reform and his embrace of modernity which set the foundation for Indias transition into a modern nation-state. Roys intellectual contributions spanned various domains including religion education politics and social reform. Roys advocacy for the abolition of sati the promotion of womens rights and the establishment of a free press demonstrated his commitment to social justice and human rights. He sought to reform Hinduism by challenging traditional practices and promoting a more rational and ethical interpretation of religious texts.
