Abstract

The Ramayana one of India’s most revered and enduring epics continues to influence cultural memory spiritual tradition artistic expression and social imagination across the subcontinent. Its narrative centred around the life exile struggles and triumph of Lord Rama has inspired countless retellings in literature sculpture theatre paintings dance and modern visual media. The present research examines how various artistic and cultural scenes from the Ramayana—especially those depicting the journey of Rama—are represented across India’s regional traditions and how these depictions communicate ethical virtues social ideals and spiritual values. Using a multidisciplinary approach combining literary analysis cultural anthropology visual semiotics and art-historical interpretation this work investigates the symbolic resonance of Rama’s journey in diverse art forms.
