  • Role of Civil Society in Strengthening Democratic Institutions

    Abstract

    Civil society has emerged as a critical intermediary sphere between the state and the market playing a transformative role in deepening democratic governance across diverse political systems. In contemporary democracies the vitality of democratic institutions—such as legislatures judiciaries electoral bodies media and local self-governments—depends not only on constitutional design but also on the active engagement of organized citizen groups that promote accountability transparency participation and social justice.
