Abstract
Environmental conservation has emerged as one of the most pressing global concerns in the twenty-first century particularly in developing countries where rapid industrialization population growth and urban expansion have intensified pressure on natural resources. India with its rich biodiversity and diverse ecosystems faces significant environmental challenges including deforestation water scarcity biodiversity loss climate change and land degradation. In this context the role of local communities has gained increasing importance in ensuring sustainable environmental management and conservation. Historically local communities in India have maintained a deep relationship with nature through traditional knowledge systems cultural practices and community-based resource management.
