Abstract

The textile industry plays a pivotal role in the global economy providing livelihoods to millions and contributing significantly to national exports and employment. However the industry’s environmental and social footprint has raised concerns about sustainability. This study investigates how the textile industry can align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations and explores the role it can play in achieving socio economic development environmental protection and responsible consumption and production. Through a comprehensive review of existing literature and analysis of industry practices the paper examines mechanisms by which textile manufacturers and associated stakeholders can contribute to SDGs such as decent work and economic growth gender equality responsible consumption and climate action.
