Abstract
The emergence of digital social networks has transformed interpersonal interactions and community formation with considerable effects on mental health and well-being. This research examines the influence of online social networks on mental health highlighting both the beneficial and detrimental consequences of digital communities. The study investigates the impact of social media platforms on users self-esteem social connection anxiety and depression using surveys and interviews. The results indicate that while digital communities provide emotional support facilitate relationships and alleviate loneliness they also exacerbate problems such as social comparison cyberbullying and addiction which adversely impact mental health. The research highlights the dual characteristics of social networks promoting a balanced strategy for online interaction.
