  • The Condition and Rights of Unorganized Sector Workers in India

    Abstract

    The unorganized sector constitutes a significant portion of Indias workforce encompassing daily wage laborers agricultural workers street vendors domestic workers and construction laborers. Despite their substantial contribution to the economy these workers face severe challenges including lack of job security low wages hazardous working conditions and minimal social security benefits. The unorganized workforce remains largely unprotected by formal labor laws making them vulnerable to exploitation and economic insecurity. This research paper examines the socio-economic conditions of workers in the unorganized sector in India and evaluates the legal and policy frameworks governing their rights. It analyzes the challenges these workers face including informal employment practices gender-based wage disparities lack of social protection and inadequate enforcement of labor laws.
