  • The Influence of Gandhi and Ambedkar on the Political and Social Climate of India: A Journey Into Modernity

    Abstract

    This paper explores the profound influence of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on the political and social landscape of India examining how their contrasting yet complementary ideologies shaped the nations journey into modernity. Gandhi with his philosophy of non-violence Swaraj (self-rule) and grassroots activism mobilized millions for India’s independence while advocating for social reforms rooted in traditional Indian values. In contrast Ambedkar a social reformer and the principal architect of the Indian Constitution championed the rights of marginalized communities especially the Dalits (formerly Untouchables) advocating for social justice through legal and constitutional frameworks.
