Abstract
Globalization has significantly transformed urban landscapes across the world bringing about profound shifts in economic structures cultural practices and social identities. In India the influence of globalization on local identities particularly in urban areas is a subject of increasing sociological interest. This research paper explores the interplay between globalization and local identity in the context of urban India. It examines how global cultural economic and technological forces shape challenge and sometimes reinforce local identities in major cities like Delhi Mumbai and Bangalore. The study utilizes a qualitative methodology incorporating ethnographic observations and interviews with residents from diverse backgrounds. It also delves into how globalization affects local traditions values and practices leading to both the homogenization of cultures and the emergence of new hybrid identities.
