Abstract
The rapid growth of digital communication technologies has transformed political participation public discourse and democratic interaction across the world. Social media platforms such as Meta Platforms Facebook X Corp. X Google YouTube and ByteDance TikTok have emerged as dominant spaces for political communication and ideological engagement. These platforms depend heavily on algorithmic systems that personalize digital content according to user behavior interests interaction patterns and engagement history. While algorithms are designed to improve user experience and maximize digital participation they have also become significant contributors to political polarization in contemporary democratic societies. By continuously exposing users to ideologically similar content and emotionally provocative narratives social media algorithms strengthen political divisions encourage selective exposure and reduce opportunities for balanced democratic dialogue.
