Abstract
Traditional Knowledge Systems represent the accumulated knowledge practices values skills and ecological understanding developed by communities through long-term interaction with their social and natural environments. In an era characterised by climate change biodiversity loss resource depletion livelihood insecurity and rapid cultural transformation traditional knowledge has gained renewed significance as a potential resource for sustainable community development. This paper examines the relationship between traditional knowledge systems and sustainable development from a social science perspective with particular attention to community resilience ecological conservation sustainable agriculture health practices livelihood security cultural identity and intergenerational knowledge transmission.
